The Vulnerable People Project is partnering with pro-life missionary Karina Breceda in her mission to serve vulnerable women, pregnant women, & infants. She currently runs two shelters, Stellar Shelter and Casa Maris, at the US/Mexico border. The mission of the shelters is to offer pro-life hospitality and life-affirming care, helping women choose life through accompaniment and community.The shelters give women and their babies a safe haven, providing them with food, shelter, medical care, pregnancy resources, and counseling. Over 500 migrant women seek refuge there annually. 

Currently, the shelters are in dire need of funds to improve the facilities, install a security system, and continue providing food, clean water, and medical care to the women and their children. 

Here are some of the main costs for the 2024-2025 budget:

• Improved air conditioning: $10,000
• Repairs to the facilities: $5,000
• Playground and shade: $20,000
• Camera security system: $8,000
• Reinforced doors: $7,000
• Food for the shelter residents for one year: $20,000
• Medical expenses (transportation to appointments, medication, diapers, prenatal visits, pediatric visits, ultrasounds, lactation support, etc.,): $40,000
